Built in a conglomerate limestone area on the Dehra plateau of Doon Valley, It is a very tiny gorge.

It is a natural cave formation with rivers running through it. The Robbers Cave Dehradub is a prominent tourist destination that is presently being maintained by the state of Uttarakhand. There are numerous shops in the area surrounding Robber’s Cave that sell food and nonalcoholic beverages to guests. People claim that during the British era, bandits who robbed wealthy people of their belongings such as cash, jewellery, and other important stuff hid them in this cave. Because this was an ideal hiding for robbers, it was named Robber’s Cave. Robbers should hide in this cave because of its natural and local position. Robbers used this cave to hide for a variety of reasons.

There is plenty of space inside the cave, as well as freshwater and a natural corral for their horses. It is thought that there was a small fort used by thieves to stay there, but it is now broken due to water and natural causes, and only some sections are visible. You can view it better and comprehend what the genuine situation was at the time if you go there. For many decades, it has been utilised by burglars to stay here, earning the moniker Robbers Cave Dehradun. However, it is now also known by another name, Gucchu Pani. In addition, it is claimed that Lord Shiva lives in this location.

Gucchu Pani is open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day of the week. The maximum time required to explore Robber’s Cave is 2-3 hours, however you can spend the entire day picnicking here with your friends or family. Because the cave is darker in the evenings and mornings, try to visit during the day.

The optimum time to visit this location is between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Gucchu Pani is best visited during the warmer months. You can visit between March and June, but avoid the wet season. During the winter season, the air in Dehradun cools and the water becomes colder. The water level rises and turns filthy during the rainy and monsoon seasons. During the rainy season, the water level can unexpectedly rise, putting you in danger.

Initially, there were no entry tickets required to enter Robbers Cave. However, when the government began renovating and developing Gucchu Pani as a tourist destination, they instituted an entry fee for everyone except children. When I visited Robbers Cave, the entry fee was Rs. 25/- per person. The initial admission fee was Rs. 20/- each person.

Dehradun is easily accessible by rail, road, or air from nearly all major Indian tier 1 and tier 2 cities. You can drive yourself to the cave. A car park is located one kilometre before the cave area. After parking your automobile, you can walk up the hill. Bring your picnic necessities to ensure a fun experience. A two-wheeler, motorbike, or scooter is one of the most convenient ways to go to Robbers Cave. Many stores on Rajpur Road in Dehradun rent out these automobiles. Nature and adventure enthusiasts can cycle up to the location and make a day of it.

Dehradun’s nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport. You may fly from practically any large city and then take a taxi to your hotel. Gucchu Pani’s Robbers’ Cave is approximately 10 kilometres from Dehradun Railway Station. There are several ways for inquiring about state taxis at Dehradun Railway Station. One can hire a vehicle from the Railway Station and negotiate a fare of Rs 300 – 400. Take a Vikram car from outside the railway station in Dehradun to Parade Ground. The fee would range between Rs 10 and Rs 15 per person. Many local buses stand near Parade Ground, and some of them run to Robber’s Cave for Rs 20 to 30. Take the bus, and you’ll arrive in Gucchu Pani.
